Something in the Waves- 2009
This short
series is titled Something in the Waves.
In creating this work, I was interested in composing images that fit
together cinematically so that the viewer could get a since of movement between
photographs. Perhaps this
suggestion of action between each shot, and the connection from one image to
the next will create a story in the mind of the viewer.For this series I decided to use the precise process of digital capture and Photoshop manipulation, with the much more loose and experimental technique of cyanotype prints. I think the two balanced each other well. My scientific side was able to have some control over the process through the creation of digital negatives, while my artistic side enjoyed the uniqueness of each cyanotype print through the varied application of the emulsion.
